The insects Lucilia are commonly called as Common Green Bottle Fly Blow Fly

Species - L. sericata Meigen 

Body small green/ greenish colour. Wings are transparent with light brown veins. Legs and antenna are black. It is found on fields, carrion  feces etc. This is the first fly may arrive within a few hours after death to lay eggs.It is always used in forensic Lab. work. For detecting postmortem.
The two important groups Order  Diptera and Order Coleoptera are often used in forensic Lab. case  work.
The age of immature specimens developing on the dead body.


Length - 10-14 mm.
Distribution - India (Gondia Maharashtra ), Australia, S. America

  The genus Tabanus ( horsefly ) are belonging to family Tabanidae. It is commonly called as oriental horsefly or true horsefly. Class - Insecta  Order - Diptera  Family - Tabanidae  Genus - Tabanus   Species - T . striatus   Fabricius  ( Horse fly ) Large body, female bite animals which have scissor like mouthparts while male adult have weak mouthparts so males feed on nectar and plants exudates. (Host plant - Neolamarekia cadamba ). Eyes are green with red shades Female have  three bands but male have two bands. Fly carry diseases like Anthrax, Trypanosomes, Loa loa, filarial disease among horse, cattle and sheep. This species play a active role in sunlight but inactive at night.
