Insect Katta
The genus Tabanus ( horsefly ) are belonging to family Tabanidae. It is commonly called as oriental horsefly or true horsefly.

Large body, female bite animals which have scissor like mouthparts while male adult have weak mouthparts so males feed on nectar and plants exudates. (Host plant - Neolamarekia cadamba ). Eyes are green with red shades Female have three bands but male have two bands. Fly carry diseases like Anthrax, Trypanosomes, Loa loa, filarial disease among horse, cattle and sheep.
This species play a active role in sunlight but inactive at night.
Length - 10- 30 mm
