Insect Katta


 The black carpenter ant is one of the largest and most common species of carpenter ants.

The insects of this family Formicidae are commonly called as  burrowing into wood or sap sucking insects.

The queen is slightly bigger than the workers ants, with longer thorax and wings while most workers are wingless. Wings have two sets but their front wings are larger than hind wings. Antenna are geniculate types.

Length - 6-16 mm.

Distribution - India ( Gondia Maharashtra ), Southeast Asia
