The insects of this family Libellulidae is one of the largest families in the world.

It is commonly called as Chalky Percher or Ground skimmer (Dragonfly). Body light bluish colour while female are pale greenish yellow marking on its black body. Male dragonfly wings clear without basal markings. Bluish eyes, greenish yellow thorax abdomen with black marks. Mature male are light bluish. Its anal appendages are creamy or white in colour.

Habitat - Wet rice fields, shallow lakes, ponds, grounds.

Distribution - India ( Gondia - Maharashtra),  Oman, Japan, United Arab Emirates

  The genus Tabanus ( horsefly ) are belonging to family Tabanidae. It is commonly called as oriental horsefly or true horsefly. Class - Insecta  Order - Diptera  Family - Tabanidae  Genus - Tabanus   Species - T . striatus   Fabricius  ( Horse fly ) Large body, female bite animals which have scissor like mouthparts while male adult have weak mouthparts so males feed on nectar and plants exudates. (Host plant - Neolamarekia cadamba ). Eyes are green with red shades Female have  three bands but male have two bands. Fly carry diseases like Anthrax, Trypanosomes, Loa loa, filarial disease among horse, cattle and sheep. This species play a active role in sunlight but inactive at night.
