Insect Katta


 The family of this insects are commonly called as brown banded cockroach.(House hold pest )

Class -Insecta 

Order - Blattodea 

Family -Ectobiidae

Genus -Supella 

Species - S. longipalpa Fabricius 


Body small, oval shaped two light coloured  bands across the wings and abdomen. It is observed in distinctive banding. The male has wings that cover  entire abdomen but female that wings that do not cover the abdomen completely. Female wider than male.Antenna long, having length about 10-14 mm.

Distribution -India ( Gondia -Maharashtra ), S. America, Canada
