Body small, oval shaped two light coloured  bands across the wings and abdomen. It is observed in distinctive banding. The male has wings that cover  entire abdomen but female that wings that do not cover the abdomen completely. Female wider than male.Antenna long, having length about 10-14 mm.

Distribution -India ( Gondia -Maharashtra ), S. America, Canada

  The genus Tabanus ( horsefly ) are belonging to family Tabanidae. It is commonly called as oriental horsefly or true horsefly.
